My 21-Day Liquid-Only Journey: Embracing the Daniel Fast

Isaiah 58:6 NLT“No, this is the kind of fasting I want: Free those who are wrongly imprisoned; lighten the burden of those who work for you. Let the oppressed go free and remove the chains that bind people.

Hey everyone! So, guess what? I’m on day 9 of my 21-day fasting and prayer journey, and it’s been pretty awesome so far! I’ll keep it real with you – I did slip up twice, but it was just for a tiny indulgence of one oatmeal cookie each day. Couldn’t resist that chewy feeling.

The inspiration for this fast came from watching one of my favorite preachers, Mike Todd. He mentioned his church doing a 21-day fast, and it felt like a sign from God. Now, every night, I’m glued to his YouTube program about fasting and prayer. Also, I’ve been diving into my prayer book and planning to read the Bible.

Feeling fantastic – loads of energy and a clear head. Not sure about the weight loss, but I definitely feel lighter. Thanks to gallons of water, I haven’t been feeling hungry at all. My TikTok update on this incredible journey!

. A 21 day water fast is a 3-week water fast1During this period, you are only allowed to consume water and non-caloric beverages and electrolytes, but no food or calorie-containing beverages1You must drink only water for 21 full days, and no solid food or other liquids that contain nutrition (like fruit juices, milk, etc.) are allowed2Simple pure mineral water is good, and you can also use boiled and cooled water2

The Daniel Fast is a 21-day fast based on Daniel’s decision in chapter 10 of the Bible to deprive himself of “pleasant food,” meat, and wine for three weeks while he sought God in prayer12The purpose behind his fast was to seek God’s guidance and understanding for future events

Benefits of the Daniel Fast

There are many benefits of eating similarly to the way Daniel did. You will lose weight. Your digestion will improve. You will retain less fluid. Your risk of chronic illnesses will lessen. You will think better and focus more clearly. Your mood and energy level will improve. Joint pain will diminish. And you will sleep better. You will spend less time worrying about poor health symptoms, so you will be able to spend more time loving God and your neighbor. The discipline of a good diet will help you live obediently as a good disciple of Christ. Therefore, you will be fuller of God’s Spirit than you are of your sinful nature.
