I’ve found that sharing my healing journey openly has been a source of strength during challenging times. Journaling has always been a helpful practice throughout my life. Lately, my engagement on TikTok, where I connect with others and share stories, has made a significant impact on my ongoing situation.
My mother has struggled with substance abuse and mental abuse towards me for a long time. Currently, she’s in hospice care, and her actions have strained our relationship to the breaking point. While I’ve chosen to forgive her and keep my distance, her disrespectful behavior towards me, my son, and my brother remains a challenge.
I attempted to reconcile with her in the past, but it’s clear she’s struggling with severe depression. However, this doesn’t excuse mistreating others, especially one’s own children. It’s been difficult to grieve a living person. Every day, I see an opportunity for change. To bring about that change, I make it a point to write down my goals and take steps towards achieving them.
Philippians 4:6 (ERV)
Don’t worry about anything, but pray and ask God for everything you need, always giving thanks for what you have.
